Digital camera manufacturers still keeps optimism on booming
sales of camera phones. Canon, for example, want to encourage owners of digital
cameras DSRL to have three different types of lenses.
"You see, there may still be the only standard lenses
only and not explore. Though there are many creative possibilities that can be
tested with different types of lenses," Merry said when met after the
press conference PhotoMarathon Canon 2014.
Merry refers to the majority of DSLR users who just uses the
default lens (kit), for example 18-55 mm f / 3.5-5.6 are much bundled with
Canon camera.
As for the other two types of lenses that are meant
telephoto lens with a long focal length range and ultrawide lens or macro.
"Many photographers may now arguably has two
half-lenses, that have a standard lens, telephoto, and still choose between a
macro lens or ultrawide. Going forward we want to encourage them to have the
three lenses, each lens because there function," continued Merry.
Telephoto lens, according to Merry, can be used to
photograph objects from a distance making it ideal for applications such as
sports photography. In contrast, a macro lens can shoot from very close range
and ultrawide field of view capable of covering wide in a frame.
"There are so many creative opportunities that can be
opened with the additional lenses. We want to encourage photographers to not
only take photos, but also develop creativity," said Merry again.
Little cameras, many lenses
The appeal against the photographer to develop a collection
of lenses that Canon could not be separated from efforts to encourage business
in the largest segment of the DSLR, the entry-level segment.
Like a pyramid, Merry said that the entry-level segment who
are in the "basic" accounts for the largest volume of sales calls
with contribution amounts to 80 percent.
Entry-level DSLR segment is Merry includes models such as
the EOS 1200D camera to the EOS 700D.
The next model in the hierarchy Canon, EOS 70D, inclusive of
the middle segment. As for the top spot occupied by professional cameras such
as the EOS 1DX
"Many users in this segment has only one lens.
Contrast, in segments such as the owner of the EOS 1DX series, the camera might
be a little but have a lot of lenses., But this segment of the small sales
volume, perhaps only one per cent," she concluded.
